Privacy Notice

1. Introduction

GoodFeelingContagion is a public artwork project. We are committed to protecting your privacy while allowing you to participate in this collective experience.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following information when you interact with a card:

  • Your response to the 'Did you feel better?' question.
  • The category of compliment you received.
  • Any reflection text you choose to share (optional).
  • Answers to any short questions shown on the response page (optional).
  • A photo or short video you choose to attach (optional). Shown publicly only after a staff member approves it.
  • A hashed version of your browser's User-Agent string (to prevent duplicate responses).
  • Self-reported donation intentions (optional).
  • Your approximate geographic location, ONLY if you choose to share it (see section 3).
  • Your email address, ONLY if you choose to provide it (see section 4).

We do NOT store your IP address in our database.

3. Location & the Journey Map

Sharing your location is entirely optional. If you tap 'Share my location', your browser asks for permission and we use the coordinates to plot where this card has travelled on a public world map.

You choose how precise this is. Before submitting you can fuzz your location by a radius you select (for example ~1 km or ~10 km); we only ever store and display the coordinate at the precision you chose, never finer. We do not derive your location from your IP address.

The public map only ever shows this fuzzed coordinate, the card, and the order/time of each stop. It never shows your email, your reflection text, your name, or any other personal detail.

4. Email

Providing an email address is optional. We store it only so we can, in the future, invite you to opt into a project newsletter. It is never shown publicly or on the map. We will not add you to any mailing list without a separate, clear opt-in.

5. Public Display

Your message and any approved photo/video may be displayed publicly in the card's diary and on the journey map (at your fuzzed location). Please do not include personally identifiable information, and do not upload images of other people without their consent. Photos and videos are only shown after a staff member reviews and approves them.

6. Age Restriction

This project is for individuals aged 16 and over. If you are under 16, please do not submit a response.

7. Your Rights

You can contact us to request the removal of a specific response if you can provide the card slug and approximate time of submission.
